2008 PONY Baseball World Series
 
 

Washington, PA -- PONY Baseball and Softball is proud to announce the sites and dates of the 2008 PONY Baseball World Series:

Mustang League World Series

The 2008 Mustang League World Series, for 9-and 10-year olds, will be held in Irving, TX. The series will begin on August 6 and conclude on August 9.

There will be eight teams participating in the tournament. PONY Baseball’s South, East, North, West, Caribbean Zones and Mexico will be represented as well as a Host Area entry and the Host, Irving will round out the field.

The Olympic style tournament will hold four games each day on August 6, 7, and 8. Three games will be played on Saturday, August 9, with the Championship game being played at 7:30 p.m. that evening.

Santa Clarita (Wm. S. Hart), CA won the 2007 Mustang World Series championship, defeating Guasave, Mexico by a score of 11-1, in Irving, TX.

Bronco League World Series

The 2008 Bronco League World Series, for 11-and 12-year olds, will be held in Monterey, CA. The series will begin on August 5 and conclude on August 11.

The Bronco League World Series will have ten (10) teams for the first time in 2008. Teams will represent the seven zones of PONY Baseball; North, South, West, East, Caribbean, Mexico and Asia-Pacific. The remaining three teams will be the Region Host, from Northern California, the Host team, Monterey, and Host Area team from the Monterey Section.

Three games will take place on August 5, 6 and 9, four games will be held on August 7 and 8, two games on August 10. The championship game will be August 11.

Tamiami, Florida defeated Walnut Valley, California, 5-3, to capture the 2007 Bronco League World Series championship in Monterey, CA.

Fifth Annual Pony-13 League World Series

The 2008 Pony-13 League World Series, for 13 year olds, will be held in Chino Hills, CA. This year’s World Series will mark the 5th anniversary of the Pony-13 League World Series. The series will begin August 1 and conclude August 4. The series will be an eight team, two-division, round robin tournament.

The eight teams will be separated into two divisions. The teams will represent the West Zone, Mexico, Host, North Zone, Caribbean Zone, East Zone, South Zone and the Host Area team.

Four games will be played daily August 1 through August 3. The winners of each bracket will play the championship game at 7:00 p.m. August 4.

Simi, California won the 2007 Pony-13 League World Series defeating Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, 12-2, in Chino Hills, CA.

57th Annual Pony League World Series

The 2008 Pony League World Series, for 13-and 14-year olds, will be held in Washington, Pennsylvania, home of PONY Baseball and Softball. This year’s World Series will mark the 57th anniversary of the Pony League World Series. The series will begin August 9 and conclude August 16. The series will be an eight team, two-division, double elimination tournament.

The eight teams will be separated into two divisions. The teams will represent the Asia-Pacific Zone, Caribbean Zone, Host Area, South Zone, East Zone, West Zone, North Zone and the host team, Washington.

Two games will be played daily August 9 through 14, at 5:30 and 8:00 p.m. The “if necessary” games in the double elimination events will be played on Friday, August 15, which will also be a rain date. The winners of each bracket will play the championship game on August 16. The championship game will be telecast on Fox Sports.

Trujillo Alta, Puerto Rico won the 2007 Pony League World Series defeating Long Beach, California, 8-3, in Washington, Pennsylvania.

Colt League World Series

The 2008 Colt League World Series, for 15-and 16-year olds, will be held in Lafayette, IN. The Colt League World Series is a ten-team event. The series will begin on August 6 and conclude on August 13. The series will be a ten team, two-division tournament that will follow the Olympic style format.

The ten teams participating in this series will be separated into two divisions. The teams are from the North Zone, European Zone, West Zone, Mexico, Host Area, East Zone, South Zone, Caribbean Zone, Asia-Pacific Zone and Host.

Four games will be played each day beginning August 6 until August 11. On August 12, there will be a semi-final round, with the winners of each division facing the second place team from the other division. The winners of the semi-final games will meet in the championship game on August 13, at 7:00 p.m.

Levittown (Toa Baja), Puerto Rico, won the 2007 Colt League World Series defeating West Zone champion Jurupa, California, 11-5, in Lafayette, IN.

Palomino League World Series Returns to California

The 2008 Palomino League World Series, for 17, 18 and 19-year olds, will be held in California. The series will begin August 7 and conclude August 10. The series will be an eight team, two-division tournament that will follow the olympic style format.

The eight teams participating have been separated into two divisions, Teams from the North Zone, West Zone, Mexico, Caribbean Zone, East Zone, Asia-Pacific, South Zone and the Host, from California.

Four games will be played each day beginning on August 7 until August 9. On 10, there will be a single in the championship game.

Levittown (Toa Baja), Puerto Rico won the Palomino World Series title in 2007 defeating Taiwan by a score of, 3-2, in Rancho Cucamonga, California.
